ABOUT ANCHOR CHURCH
Anchor Church Sydney was planted in May 2014 in a small warehouse theatre on the urban perimeter of Sydney. With a bold vision to see lives radically transformed by Jesus, we are committed to making disciples and planting churches. As part of the broader Anchor Church movement, we are passionate about multiplying gospel communities across Sydney and beyond. We are seeking an inspiring and devoted leader to join our dynamic and growing team to help bring this vision to life. This role is open to both men and women.

Location: Marrickville/ Newtown
Role: Associate Pastor

ASSOCIATE PASTOR

  • Work closely with our Lead Pastor in executing the vision and mission of our church
  • Regular preaching, teaching, training, and occasional service leading

Spiritual Formation & Discipleship

  • Lead and strengthen our discipleship pathway, ensuring clear next steps for people at every stage of their faith journey.
  • Oversee Gospel Communities as our primary vehicle for discipleship, supporting and developing their leaders for healthy, multiplying communities of discipleship and mission
  • Develop and deliver training and resources to cultivate a culture of deep discipleship in our church

Sundays Gatherings

  • Planning and leading the teams involved in our Sunday worship services, working closely with the preaching and worship teams to help curate inspiring gatherings.

General

  • Work collaboratively with ministry leaders to ensure alignment across Anchor’s vision, rhythms, and ministries.
  • Provide input and hands-on support across ministry areas as needed, serving as a flexible and proactive member of the pastoral team.

  • Theological qualification (B.Th./MDiv or in progress)
  • Demonstrated gifting in preaching and teaching

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Current Working with Children’s Check and clearance
  • Completion of all Safe Ministry Training requirements for church leadership
  • Agreement to our Code of Conduct and Statement of Faith
  • Meets the high character standards for church leadership (1 Tim 3, Titus 1, 1 Pet 5)

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • 5+ years’ experience in a ministry leadership role
  • Proven ability leading growing teams and/ or an organisation
  • Committed to a missional ecclesiology
  • Experience working in a similar role

REMUNERATION

This is a Full-Time role (5 days per week) with expected involvement in ministry-related events such as weddings, funerals, and conferences. Remuneration will be set according to our remuneration guidelines and will be commensurate with the candidate’s experience and qualifications.

JOIN THE TEAM

 

Position: Generations (Kids & Youth) Pastor

Reporting to the Lead Pastor, the Generations Pastor has primary responsibility for our Sunday morning kids program. They will recruit, support, and train our kids volunteers. They will seek to further develop mid-week programs and missional opportunities. Working in partnership with parents, the Generations Pastor will ensure safe, fun, and engaging discipleship environments exist across our church.

Criteria

  • Personal commitment to Anchor’s call, statement of faith, and values
  • An infectious love for Jesus and a life of obedient submission to him
  • A love for young people and their growth as followers of Jesus
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate with parents
  • Healthy emotional intelligence and self-awareness
  • Demonstrated ability to make big theological concepts simple
  • Children’s/ Youth ministry experience
  • Proven ability to effectively lead/ develop leaders and motivate volunteers
  • Current WWCC & police background check.

Desirable

  • Theological qualifications
  • Experience in curriculum development and delivery

Remuneration

The role is a part-time permanent position (3 days, incl. Sundays) commencing January 2026. Workdays are flexible but Sundays are essential to the role. Remuneration will be according to our remuneration guidelines and in accordance with experience and training.
