Draw Near Reading Plan

03rd August 2025

As we head into this season, we want to be a church family that doesn’t just talk about drawing near to God – we actually do it. And one of the most powerful ways we can do that is by opening his Word together. Whether you’ve been reading the Bible for years or you’ve never quite known where to start, now is the perfect moment to begin (or begin again). You won’t be doing it alone – you can journey with your Gospel Community, in triplets, or simply invite a friend to read alongside you.

A Plan to Help You Begin

A digital version of our reading plan is available here, complete with tips on why and how to read the Bible, plus guidance on using the simple S.O.A.P. method – Scripture, Observation, Application, Prayer – to help you engage with what you read in a personal, prayerful way.

Why Read the Bible?

Reading the Bible is more than gaining knowledge – it’s about meeting with God. His word has the power to shape our thinking, guide our steps, and draw our hearts closer to his. When overlook reading scripture, the difference is noticeable: our perspective drifts, our prayers feel shallow, and we’re less anchored in truth. But when we consistently sit with Scripture, God speaks into our lives every day with wisdom, comfort, and courage.

If you’ve never made Bible reading a regular habit, this is your invitation. Don’t do it alone – invite someone else along for the journey. Sharing insights, asking questions, and encouraging one another makes the experience richer and more joyful.

Why 4 Readings a Week?

Research shows that when you engage with the Bible four or more times a week, the impact on your spiritual growth is dramatic. Our faith deepens, our decisions align more closely with God’s ways, and we grow in godliness. Fewer than four times a week? The difference isn’t as noticeable – which is why this plan is designed to help us keep a steady rhythm.
